THE million dollar Nakasi four-lane project from Davuilevu to Nausori will be completed by the end of this month, says Infrastructure Minister Jone Usamate.
“We really want people to follow the traffic rules and bear with us as we try to complete this project by the end of this month,” he said.
“We have cars speeding on the road and this is the attitude we don’t tolerate. This particular road is progressing and the revised timetable was for the end of this month.”
Fiji Roads Authority senior engineer and manager program Johari Abdullah said more than 200 men were currently on the ground working on the project.
Dayals Quarries Ltd project manager Patrick Wardlaw said they had completed 96 per cent of the project.
“We are currently on the left-hand side and we should complete it by the end of next week, depending on the weather,” he said.
“By the end of this month we are hoping to open the four lanes to traffic. We have challenges and we make sure that we get in there and get the job done.
“We have been doing a lot of planning with FRA to make sure that they are well informed and minimise delays.”
