BOXER Mikaele Ravalaca believes in one thing; if he has to prove himself, it will be in the ring.
It is the mantra he lives by as he puts in the hard yards to exert his strength and might to prepare for the clash against Rohit Chauhan of India in the Kings Boxing Promotion event for this month in Suva.
The Ra boxer will face Chauhan to contest the WBA Oceania Lightweight Title.
He says believing in himself and in what he is capable of pulling off in the ring is a key point of focus and guidance for him.
“First of all, I believe in myself and I believe in what I’m doing and I train hard for every fight,” Ravalaca told Times Sport.
“I don’t underestimate any opponent and I make sure I come prepared before I come to the fight.”
At 23 years old with nine bouts under his belt professionally, he has won eight of them in which seven were knockouts and lost one bout.
His last fight was against Kaliova Tahikia for Bluewater Boxing Promotions in Sigatoka in May this year, where he beat Tahikia via a third round technical knockout in the main bout of the promotion’s “Lawaqa Rumble” event.
His opponent, Chauhan, last stepped into the ring in March this year in Suva, where he faced Ratu Rakuro Daunivavana where he won by a split decision.
In gearing up for this bout, Ravalaca has emphasised the importance of maintaining a consistent and focused training regimen.
“At the moment, I’m focusing on my journey, and I want to be 100 per cent (ready) for it,” Ravalaca said.
The event will be held on Saturday, July 25 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
