As the anticipation for the IBO Asia Pacific Super weight title is growing, local boxer Ubayd Haider is drawing attention for his upcoming bout with Runqi Zhao and his rivalry with Mikaele Ravalaca.
The fighter has made his position clear, Ravalaca isn’t on his radar, and he views the challenge as far from compelling.
“Mika’s a fight I’d take on a day when I’m sitting at home with no fights lined up,” he said, bluntly dismissing Ravalaca’s callouts.
“He has no ranking, no belt. He’s trying to use my name for fame. But when the time comes, and it will come, I’ll end his career.”
The rivalry, largely fueled by Ravalaca’s attempts to earn a fight with the established champion, has sparked excitement among local boxing fans.
Yet, the fighter is adamant that his focus is on larger goals, such as winning his upcoming title fight and cementing his place on the international stage.
“This is a stepping stone for me,” he said of the upcoming IBO Asia Pacific fight.
“Once I secure this belt, I’ll have a target on my back, and I expect top champions to come calling.”
For now, Ravalaca remains sidelined, though many are eager to see if this potential match up will materialise.
Until then, the fighter remains focused on proving his dominance inside the ring and rising to new heights.
