Two of the three men charged for the attempted murder of Police Constable Senoveva Tikoduadua have been discharged after the State discontinued proceedings against them.
PC Tikoduadua, the daughter of Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua, was hit by a car in April while manning a police checkpoint in Laqere, Nasinu. The car was being pursued by police at the time.
Justice Dane Tuiqereqere discharged Dominiko Tabau and Jone Rakatia yesterday after State lawyer Bhavna Kantharia filed anolle prosequi. The two were initially charged alongside Saimoni Rokotunidau, whose case will continue.
Mr Tabau and Mr Rakatia were each charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of serious as sault and one count of going equipped for theft.
Mr Rokotunidau remains charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, one count of going equipped for theft one count of serious assault, and one count of refusing to have his
fingerprints and photographs taken.
The charges relate to incidents alleged to have occurred on April 26 and May 11.
Justice Tuiqereqere reminded Mr Tabau and Mr Rakatia that the State may reinstate charges against them in the future.
