TORIKA Boseiwaqa is following the trail blazed by elder sister Sereana as the 14-year-old begins her own Kulas journey with a World Cup qualification target in sight.
For the Boseiwaqa sisters, the Fiji jersey is no longer just a dream watched from the sidelines — it is a family tradition taking shape before their eyes.
Fourteen-year-old Torika Boseiwaqa has earned her first national call-up after being selected for the Fiji Mini Kulas squad for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Solomon Islands.
The year nine student of Ba Sangam College is the youngest of five siblings and has spent years watching elder sister Sereana Naweni rise through Fiji’s age-group ranks before establishing herself with the senior Kulas.
Naweni captained Fiji at the 2025 OFC U-19 Women’s Championship and scored for the senior side against Tonga at last year’s OFC Women’s Nations Cup.
Now Torika has her own opportunity to follow that path.
“My elder sister has supported me a lot and always encourages me to work hard,” Torika said.
“I am very proud to follow in her footsteps and represent Fiji, just like she has done.”
Her challenge is bigger than simply making her international debut.
The Mini Kulas will face the Cook Islands on September 6, New Zealand on September 9 and hosts Solomon Islands on September 12, with the two finalists qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2027.
That gives Torika and her teammates a clear target — finish among the top two in Oceania and take Fiji to the world stage.
Torika knows the opportunity comes with responsibility.
“She has inspired me, and I hope to make her and my family proud when I play for the Mini Kulas,” she said.
For the Boseiwaqa family, it is already a remarkable milestone.
Sereana has shown Torika what is possible in the Fiji jersey.
Now the younger sister has the chance to write her own chapter — while chasing a dream that could take her first international tournament all the way to a World Cup.
