The national road death toll went up to 22 this morning after two people lost their lives in two separate road fatalities.
A man in his twenties died following a road accident along Lodoni Road in Korovou this morning.
The victim is alleged to have lost control of the vehicle he was driving as it approached Nananu Village, causing it to veer off the road.
Police said with the assistance of officers from the National Fire Authority, the victim was rushed to the Korovou Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
In the second incident, a man died in an alleged hit and run case in Ba.
The body of the victim was found on the road at the Rarawai Flat along Koronubu Road after 3am this morning.
The victim was conveyed to the Ba Aspen Hospital where medical officials confirmed his death.
The search continues for the driver, and traffic officers are also working on identifying the victim, who is an Itaukei male believed to be in his 40s.
