TOMASI Tuivuna currently leads the professional scoreboard after day two of the GM Motors Fiji Golf Classic, which concludes at the Denarau Golf Club today.
Tuivuna leads with a gross score of 67, followed by Zoheer Ahmed and Abid Hussain on 69, while Vikrant Chandra is on 71.
In the ladies’ division, Jane Jacobs recorded the best nett score of 65, followed by Merelita McCarthy on 67. Brooke Ball, Sylvia Joe and Anne McMillan all carded 68 nett.
Close to 200 golfers, both young and old, from overseas and Fiji, are competing in the three-day tournament.
Overseas golfer Libby Russell, from the Sunshine Coast, said it was a good time for her to visit Fiji, not only to play golf but also to reconnect with her family.
“I’m loving it, it’s beautiful run, the course is ready.
“For 50 women participants is a good number and the competition is very strong. I’m here because I have never been here before and I have Tonga and Fiji cousins as well,” Russell said.
Neil Sharma, who is based in the USA, was excited to be back in his home country.
