Fijians who are in with debt to the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) and intend to depart Fiji, will be reminded at the Nadi airport if they have obtained a proper clearance.

This will be done via digital screens at the Departure Check-In area and prior to the entrance to the security clearance zone.

Also, kiosks will be available at in the arrival concourse that will allow returning bonded graduates and existing sponsored students to quickly and efficiently access TSLS services to delist their travel guarantors.

TSLS and Fiji Airports signed a deal recently to effect the above the Nadi airport.

“Today’s agreement allows this critical service to be accessed where people are, and ensure our services are easier to access, both physically and digitally,” said Fiji Airports CEO, Mesake Nawari.

TSLS chief executive Dr. Hasmukh Lal said anyone who has not obtained proper clearance despite all reminders and messages before security clearance zone, will have themselves to blame.

He added the guarantor clearance kiosks will help sponsored students and bonded graduates to delist their travel guarantors after arrival into the country.

“From temporary travel, students and graduates are supposed to provide us with two guarantors when they travel- and when they return, they are supposed to notify TSLS that they are back in the country to delist guarantors.”

“They don’t do that and when the guarantors travel, they got stopped at the airport and this is a huge disappointment.

“So, the kiosk at the arrival concourse will allow them to clear guarantors’ names upon arrival back into Fiji.”
