The Suva Marathon Club has officially launched registrations for the Namosi Challenge 2026, set for Saturday, June 6, in Namosi.
This community-driven trail run draws runners into Fiji’s rugged interior for an unforgettable ecoadventure, promoting fitness, healthy living, and direct support for local schools while celebrating Namosi spectacular landscapes.
The launch took place yesterday at Greenhouse Coworking’s new Nasese location.
SMC President Amit Ahalawat described the event as an incredible journey into Namosi’s heart, testing endurance, forging self-connection, and community bonds.
“Participating in the Namosi Challenge leaves you in awe for its beauty. We thank all of our sponsors for coming onboard to support the event,” shared Amit.
Amit has completed every race in Namosi since its inception in 2020, and the event played a big part in motivating him to start running regularly. He has now run every day for over 1000 days!
SMC Operations Marketing Manager Silina Bale highlighted its impact: “We’re blending thrilling runs with real community giveback, inspiring Fijians to get active while uplifting Namosi.”
Matelita Katamotu, representing Domoika Adventures and the wider Namosi susta-tourism ventures, highlighted the importance of the event for the community.
“The whole community gets involved and enjoys the opportunity to welcome runners to our home. Funds donated as part of your entry will go to supporting important upgrades at the school.”
Marita Manley, (SMC and the Duavata Sustainable Tourism Collective) add that the event was created during COVID and has helped put Namosi on the adventure tourism map.
“It is so great to see so many people from Suva regularly turning out each year, and eagerly awaiting the registration opening. Business and organisations in Suva are using it as team building outings, with several teams growing the number of runners each year.”
The event is supported by a number of partners including Jacks of Fiji, The Fiji Times, Domoika Adventures, Namosi Eco Retreat, Greenhouse Coworking, and six Duavata Sustainable Tourism
Collective members: Domoika Adventures, Namosi Eco Retreat, Gasadrau Farm, Rivers Fiji, Talanoa Treks, Finding Islands Tours.
