The Fiji Sports Council’s Grassroots Fiji Under-21 7s tournament will head to the island of Nacula in the Yasawa Group for its next stop following the wrap-up of its Ovalau leg this weekend.

Registrations have opened from Tuesday as rugby and netball are the two sports on offer for competition.

Male teams register for the 7s tournament with a payment of $350 per team, female teams for $150 and netball teams also pay $150 for participation as well.

In the 7s rugby competition, the prize pool is a lucrative one as male and female competitors register for a chance to take part in the tournament.

In the male division, the cup winner will be awarded $3500, the runner-up $2000 and the plate winner gets $1000.

The plate runner-up gets $750 in prize money, bowl winner a total of $500 and bowl runner-up $300.

The best male player of the tournament will receive $100 in prize money.

In the female competition, teams will compete for a chance to be crowned champions and scoop the cup winner’s prize money of $1500.

The best female player receives a prize money of $100.

In the netball competition, the winner receives $1000 while the runner-up gets $500 and the best player receives $100.

The Nacula leg is the fourth stop of the Grassroots Fiji U21 7s tournament which began in Bua that ran from April 25-26, followed by the Taveuni leg from May 9-10 and then the Levuka leg, which will play out in Nasau Park on Ovalau Island this weekend.

Following the Nacula, Yasawa leg, the tournament moves to Moala in the Lau Group which takes from July 25-26.

The series will move onto the island of Kadavu from August 22-23 before finishing off in Suva from September 1-5.
