AN early morning accident in Sigatoka involving a safari boat resulted in five Australian tourists being airlifted to Suva Private Hospital.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the accident occurred yesterday.

“It occurred at around 10am near Tubairata Village, on the Sigatoka River when the safari boat captained by a 23-year-old overturned, injuring all five passengers,” Ms Naisoro said.

Sigatoka River Safari managing director Jay Whyte said he could not give any details.

“We are not releasing any information at this stage because we are conducting our own internal procedures,” Mr Whyte said.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.
