TALANOA Treks, one of the country’s popular adventure tourism operator marked World Tourism Day yesterday by focusing on sustainable tourism.
Company director Matt Capper said this year’s theme Sustainable Tourism. A Tool for Development was close to their hearts.
“Talanoa Treks is founded on the belief that tourism can play a part in supporting sustainable community development, if done in the right way,” he said in a post on the company’s website to mark the global event.
“In 2013, during our talanoa sessions in four communities, it was clear that establishing small tourism enterprises in unknown places and to attract hikers to a country-side would take a lot of hard work and commitment on the part of everyone involved.”
He said the company would always strive to keep improving its operations.
