CAKAUDROVE Rugby Union has intensified preparations ahead of its do-or-die Vanua Cup Championship second elimination clash against Macuata at Subrail Park in Labasa tomorrow at 3pm.
Union president Ratu Peni Ratuvuki said the team had elevated its training standards following last week’s outing as they seek to keep their Skipper Cup promotion aspirations alive.
“The preparation has been stepping up from where we were previously, and after the game last week, we have stepped up again because we know this match against Macuata is very crucial,” he said.
Following a detailed review of their previous performance, Ratuvuki said the coaching staff identified several areas requiring improvement such as their kicking and discipline.
The Cakaudrove side has also analysed footage of Macuata’s recent performances in a bid to counter the strengths of their northern rivals.
Ratuvuki acknowledged the challenge posed by Macuata.
“Our goal is clear. We want to become one of the Skipper Cup teams from the North and this game is a major step towards achieving that.”
The winner of tomorrow’s clash will move one step closer to securing a place in next season’s Skipper Cup competition.
