CURIOUS about investing in Fiji’s stock market? You can now get basic information by simply dialing the SPX Toll Free Investor Education Line 1534. The South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX) this week announced the launch of this service as part of ongoing efforts to improve investor awareness and financial literacy in Fiji.

“The launch of the 1534 Toll Free Investor Education Line provides a simple and accessible way for the public to connect with SPX, ask questions freely, and learn more about investment opportunities available through Fiji’s stock market,” SPX chief executive officer Sheraj Obeyesekere said in a statement.

He added that improving financial literacy and awareness is directly linked to the long-term success of the Fijian stock market. The dedicated toll-free line will provide members of the public with direct access to basic information on share investment, the stock market and how to become an investor in the stock market. “The public can call and ask even the most basic questions relating to investing, including what the stock market is, the companies available for investment, potential investment returns, how shares work, how to get started through a licensed stockbroker and more,” Mr Obeyesekere said.

The SPX Toll Free Investor Education Line 1534 is operational during normal weekday business hours, excluding public holidays.

SPX is Fiji’s only securities exchange, licensed by the Reserve Bank of Fiji under the Companies Act 2015.

It facilitates capital raising in the primary market and offers a fair, transparent platform for secondary market trading.
