THE 2024 season was a defining chapter for Swire Shipping Fijian Drua hooker Zuriel Togiatama, offering both rewarding opportunities and challenges.
Reflecting on the past season, Togiatama highlighted the positives.
“I got given a lot more opportunity this season, and I feel like I made the most of every chance that I did get,” he shared.
The increased time on the field allowed him to sharpen his skills.
However, the season wasn’t without its hurdles. Togiatama dealt with the physical toll of the sport, including a minor knee tweak.
“Thankfully, with the help of the physio team and strenght and conditioning staff, I was able to finish the season strong,” he said.
Despite the setback, his commitment to staying injury-free and maintaining peak performance paid off.
As Togiatama sets his sights on the 2025 season, his goals are clear.
“I want to be better than what I was this year,” he stated.
Beyond his performance on the field, he aims to embrace a leadership role off it.
“This year, I’m putting my hand up in terms of strengthening my leadership, both on and off the field.”
Togiatama’s rugby journey is a testament to his dedication and skill. Born to Niuean and Fijian parents, he proudly represents both heritages.
