The TISI Sangam Fiji has applauded the gift of a school gate to a public-run school by one of its branches.
Members of the Sangam’s Rakiraki branch have funded the construction of a new gate at the Rakiraki Public High School as part of a community project.
Secretary general of TISI Sangam Fiji Damend Gounder commended his Rakiraki members for the kind gesture.
“This is a great example of community partnership where our members have assisted another school.
“This is the first time it has happened and we hope similar projects like this will happen in other districts,” said Mr Gounder.
Rakiraki branch spent $4300 to construct the new gate.
“We acknowledge Rakiraki Public High School as partners in providing education for children in Rakiraki and it’s only proper that we assist them in ways we can,” said Mr Sanmogam Gounder, the president of Rakiraki branch.
We have been asked to carry out other projects and we are looking at assisting a village soon.” Rakiraki Public High School has a roll of 380.
