FOR 29-year-old Arieta Vunita, grocery shopping is much more than filling a trolley it is about caring for her family, managing her household budget and making thoughtful choices.
Arieta, a mother of two with another baby on the way, has been a loyal shopper at RB Patel Supermarket for more than a decade.
Living in the highlands of Naitasiri with her husband and children, she makes regular trips to either the Suva or Nausori branches to stock up on everything her family needs.

“With another baby on the way, it is important to manage our money carefully. Life is becoming more expensive every day, and we need to learn how to save and prepare for the future.”
When it comes to feeding her family, Arieta focuses on buying nutritious foods that keeps her children healthy and strong. “It is important to give your children healthy fruits and vegetables. Protein is also important, so we always make sure to buy good quality meat for our family.”
Saturdays is usually dedicated to meat shopping, a task her husband enjoys taking part in.
“That is when my husband comes with me and chooses the meats he wants for the family and for the children,” she says with a smile.
“We work together to make sure everyone has healthy meals throughout the week.”
Living in a rural area also means careful planning is essential. Arieta says buying in bulk helps her family save money and avoid paying higher prices at smaller village shops.
“When you live in the village, you have to prepare ahead. Buying from small shops is expensive, so I always make a list before leaving home. That way I know exactly what I need and can shop wisely.”
During every visit, Arieta notices how busy the supermarket is and believes it reflects the trust customers have in the brand.
“The supermarket is always full of shoppers,” she says. “That shows people trust the products, the prices, and the variety available in-store.”
