SUPERMARKET chain RB Patel Group has appointed former chief executive officer of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) Jitoko TIkolevu as an independent director on the company’s board of directors.
RB Patel Group board chairperson Kamal Haer said Mr Tikolevu filled the casual vacancy that was created by the resignation of Kavin Rathod in November last year.
“Mr Tikolevu brings with him experience in the civil service where he started with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Auditor General’s office, the Revenue and Customs Authority (FRCA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he was appointed as high commissioner to the United Kingdom,” Ms Haer said early this week in a market announcement issued by the South Pacific Stock
Exchange (SPX) where the company is listed.
Mr Tikolevu, also a former diplomat before his return to Fiji in 2023, had served as the chief executive officer of the FRCS from 2007 to 2015.
He had also served as the deputy chairman of the boards of Fiji Development Bank (FDB) and Investment Fiji, chairman of Oceania Customs Organisation (OCO) and the Pacific Islands Tax
Administrators Association (PITA).
Mr Tikolevu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the South Pacific (USP) in Suva.
He also holds a master’s in taxation degree from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
“We are happy to have Mr Tikolevu on the board with his experience and knowledge of the civil service as well as business and taxation in general,” Ms Haer said.
