Ticket prices slashed to accommodate fans

The Fiji Rugby Union has slashed ticket prices for the eagerly-awaited Punjas Pacific Battle clash between the Flying Fijians and the Ikale Tahi to accommodate die-hard rugby fans this weekend.

Union special administrator Simione Valenitabua says the national team will rely on its fans to boost in its last local match against its Pacific rival and the presence of fans will boost players’ performance.

“This Punjas Pacific Battle is the only one that going to be held here at home,” Valenitabua says.

“Prices have been slashed so that it allows and gives you the opportunity to come in and witness our boys play this Saturday.

“You’ve proven that with the Drua boys in the Super Rugby Pacific competition and we can also rely on you in this battle.”

Valenitabua says the huge presence of fans will surely lift the players’ spirits on the field and will also enhance their performance and allow them to win and win well and continue on towards the Rugby World Cup.

Last week, major local manufacturer and distributor Punjas announced its intention to acquire naming rights for this one-off Pacific Battle.

Its chief marketing officer Gopal Jadhav says this weekend’s showdown between the Pacific rivals will be quite an interesting match of the year before the team travels to Samoa and Japan and finally for the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France.

He says the company is proud and very privileged to be the naming sponsor for Punjas Pacific Battle 2023.

He adds that the Punjas Pacific Battle 2023 speaks for the commitment that they hold for the sport. Meanwhile, the match kicks off at 3pm at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.
