An attempt was made last night to retrieve money from inside at Bred Bank ATM that is located on the Nadi back-road.
Those responsible damaged the display screen of the ATM and managed to pull it out.
“This area near the temple has become a haven for criminals overnight,” said a businessman who sought anonimity.
“We have seen petty break-ins and theft and this is the first time an attempt has been made to break open an ATM.”
A shop located near the ATM was also damaged, with a large stone used in trying to break the front glass.
“We need more Police presence in this part of the town in the night,” added the businessman.
