Three police officers charged with the murder of Lami Police Constable Peniasi Racagi have been remanded in custody with the case transferred to the High Court.
Simione Rokosemudu, Iowane Sukanaisoro and Ilisoni Waqa appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza, where they were jointly charged with one count of murder.
All three accused opted to be represented by the Legal Aid Commission.
The State applied for the matter to be transferred to the High Court in Suva.
Magistrate Hamza remanded all three men in custody, with the case adjourned to October 23, when they are expected to appear before the High Court.
The State alleges that the three officers, together with another person, murdered Constable Racagi following an altercation in February this year.
The charges were sanctioned following a legal analysis by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), in accordance with its standard procedur
