The University of the South Pacific pro-chancellor Winston Thompson will receive the 50th anniversary of independence medal at the State House this morning.
Twenty six recipients are expected to receive the medals.
The RFMF Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto , Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu, Defence Minister Inia Seruiratu and Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau are also present at the event.
The medal is given to those who have worked tirelessly in helping Fiji’s progress.
