A total of 20,386 criminal cases were recorded in Nadi last year.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu highlighted this while speaking at the Nadi Business Forum last week.

He said criminal activities recorded for Nadi were more than Namaka.

“During the last three years, the overall crime declined from 17,538 cases in 2022 to 6139 cases in 2023,” Mr Tudravu said.

“However, in 2024, there was a rise again with 20,386 cases.”

Mr Tudravu said theft had become prevalent, followed by burglary.

“Namaka also recorded an increase in theft, assault and then burglary.

“These are the three top crimes that are being committed in Nadi and Namaka area.

“So theft was the prevalent case in 2022 to 2024 followed by assault and also unlawful possession of drugs that is coming up in our area and also burglary.

“The popular target areas in Nadi and Namaka are supermarkets, and business entities where most of the crime are being committed.”

Mr Tudravu said Lautoka also recorded an increase in the number of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and burglary cases in the past three years.
