Ratu Sakiusa Makutu

NADROGA paramount chief Turaga na Ka Levu Ratu Sakiusa Makutu died on November 27 after a short illness. He was 66. He was best remembered as a noble leader who championed indigenous rights.

Ratu Jale Waisale Kuwe

BA Provincial Council chairman and Tui Tavua Ratu Jale Waisale Kuwe passed away on November 3 at his home in Waila, Nausori following a short illness. He was laid to rest at the chiefly Tavua Village on December 14.

Ratu Aisea Katonivere

THE late paramount chief of Macuata, Ratu Aisea Katonivere, died on April 19 during a fishing trip in Naduri Waters. He died aged 57. He loved the sea and championed ocean conservation.

Unaisi Murray

THE late tourism icon and Outrigger on the Lagoon’s public relations officer Unaisi Murray died peacefully on May 22 at the Sigatoka District Hospital after a short illness. She was 70. She was popular among tourism operators.

Robin Forster

FORMER ACS principal Robin Forster died on November 28 at Pearce Home in Suva. She was 82. In 1999, Ms Forster was awarded a Commemorative Certificate in appreciation for her contribution to FASANOC’s growth and development.

Dr Umanand Prasad

THE founder of Umanand Prasad School of Medicine at the Saweni, Lautoka-based University of Fiji and former Fiji resident, Dr Umanand Prasad died in a road accident in Australia on July 14.
