What began as a Year 13 experiment on TikTok has grown into an ambition to become one of Fiji’s biggest content creators.

Originally from Labasa, Anush Maharaj grew up in Nagigi, attending Nagigi Primary School before moving on to Labasa College. It was during Year 13 that he began creating content on TikTok, despite facing criticism in the early stages.

He later moved to Suva in 2023 to pursue tertiary education at Fiji National University, where he completed a Certificate Level 4 in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

Maharaj graduated this year and has since expanded into marketing, using the skills developed through his four years of content creation to promote businesses online.

But it is his achievements on the global stage that have given his journey a new dimension.

Maharaj has now achieved two Guiness World Records. His first was for identifying the most company logos in 30 seconds, where he identified 60 logos, surpassing the previous record of 54.

This year, he achieved his second record by identifying 24 countries by their flags in 30 seconds — a record he says Fiji now holds for the first time.

The records are more than personal milestones as he hopes they will create opportunities beyond Fiji and help establish content creation as a viable career for others like him.

His future plans include producing more long-form content, exploring platforms such as YouTube and continuing to work in digital marketing.

Ultimately, Maharaj hopes his journey will inspire other young Fijians to pursue their ambitions, even when opportunities appear limited.
