FIJIAN water is regarded worldwide as extremely fresh and pure, says Paradise Beverages brand manager Julian Train.
He said this was used to blend their rum products after barrelling, adding to one of many factors that contributed to the superior quality of Bounty rum.
Coca-Cola Amatil Limited revealed this week that Fiji’s Bounty overproof rum had won a number of significant awards at the recent San Francisco Spirits competition, beating some of the world’s best rums for top honour.
Bounty overproof rum scooped the highest honour for a brand at the end, the double gold medal, Bounty white rum and Bounty dark rum won a silver medal, while Bounty spiced rum won a bronze medal.
“The soil our sugar cane grows in is highly volcanic and nutrient rich due to low erosion rates and gives our base sugar a higher sugar and starch content, which increases the quality of our base spirit.
“We also use a high proportion of pot still in our blend, giving a richer taste profile. Last but not least is our master blender, Liam Costello, who has more than 30 years of experience in producing world-class rum.”
