TWENTY-year-old Vasiti Suraki is stepping onto the Vodafone Rakiraki carnival stage with a clear mission to champion environmental care and inspire the next generation to take action.
Representing the Rakiraki Town Council, the Rakiraki Public High School student brings strong regional roots to her campaign, hailing from Vatusekiyasawa with maternal links to Draunivi Village in Ra.
Ms Suraki chose environmental protection as her core advocacy because of its immediate relevance to daily life and its long-term impacts on land, oceans, and communities.
“Caring for our environment is not only our responsibility today, but also a promise to the generations that will come after us,” she said.
Ms Suraki said the choices made today directly shape the future, prompting her desire to encourage local communities and youth to adopt meaningful habits that respect nature.
Beyond personal confidence, Ms Suraki views the platform as a way to demonstrate how young women can drive positive community change.
Ms Suraki hopes her message will serve as a rallying call for unified action across the region.
