SOLOMON Islands and Hong Kong China are both determined to secure a victory at the FIFA International “A” Friendlies tournament, set to be held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva tomorrow.
Captain Michael Lea’alafa of Solomon Islands said they were aware of the formidable skill possessed by the Hong Kong China team and stressed the importance of avoiding any complacency in their preparation and performance on the field.
Lea’alafa said they were looking forward to the opportunity to compete in a football match.
“It is always a blessing to play a football game, and all the boys are looking forward to this game,” said Lea’alafa.
“It’s going to be a massive game against Hong Kong and as our coach said, we are also preparing for the World Cup qualifier, so this game should be a bonus for us to keep our momentum going and notify things we need to work on.”
Hong Kong China captain Matthew Orr said the team was keeping up with the physical strains of the long journey to Fiji, and the team was focused on recovery and physical readiness prior to facing the Solomon Islands.
Despite being in Fiji for the first time, Orr and his team are focused on clinching a win in the upcoming game.
“The last couple of days it’s been quite a long travel down here, so it’s been more about focusing on recovery and making sure our body is alright before the match,” said Orr.
The match will kick off at 7pm.
