Team unveils new kit

The official uniform and sportswear of Team Fiji to the 2024 Paris Olympics in France later this year was displayed yesterday at the French ambassador’s residence in Suva during the team’s farewell cocktail event.

Present at the event were members of the national 7s team, swimming athletes, athletics athletes, and others who have qualified or are looking to qualify for the Olympics.

French ambassador Francois-Xavier Leger gave his well wishes to Team Fiji, as the side is left with a month of preparation before the start of the Olympics.

“I wish the athletes, the trainers as well as all the staff the best for the games, all those we have been partnering with for the last three years to promote sports here in Fiji,” he said.

Meanwhile, Team Fiji chef de mission Sale Sorovaki thanked Leger for hosting their athletes at his residence, which also saw the display of the side’s sports uniform at the Olympics.

“First of all, we would like to thank the French ambassador Francois-Xavier Leger for having us here tonight, and we would also like to thank the Fiji Government for their support in sending our team to the Olympics.”

He also thanked the Australian government for assisting athletes in trying to qualify for the Olympics.

“I also speak on behalf of the Fiji Association of Sports and Olympic Committee, thanking all the athletes who are trying to qualify and those who have already qualified for the games, we thank you for all your hard work and dedication.”

Team Fiji currently consists of 16 women and 18 men athletes who have already qualified, as selection process for others looking to secure qualification will continue.
