Team Fiji will present its iTatau to Minister of Sports, Hon Jese Saukuru at 3.30pm today at the FMF Gymnasium.

The iTatau ceremony holds deep cultural significance for Fiji, symbolizing respect, unity, and spiritual strength. Before departing for national duties, Team Fiji presents the itatau to honour their leaders and seek blessings for their journey.

This traditional practice is rooted in the Fijian values of respect and community.

The iTatau is also performed to bestow mana, or spiritual power, on individuals before significant undertakings, ensuring their success and protection.

Today, it serves as a unifying event, bringing together athletes, their families, and the community in a display of collective pride and support.

The iTatau also maintains a connection to Fiji’s ancestral traditions, ensuring that the nation’s unique cultural heritage is preserved and honoured.

As Team Fiji’s athletes prepare to represent their country at the upcoming Palau 2025 Pacific Mini Games, the itatau reinforces their commitment to excellence and their responsibility to uphold the values that define Fiji’s sporting spirit.

We welcome you in wishing Team Fiji the very best in Palau.
