Computer science teacher Kishore Kumar has been terminated for posting derogatory comments on social media against member of Parliament Lenora Qereqeretabua.
Education Minister Rosy Akbar in a statement said the ministry would not tolerate any breach of the civil servants’ code of conduct.
She said anyone employed by the ministry engaged in activities that brought disrepute to the nobility of the teaching profession — whether during official working hours or outside of official working hours — would face disciplinary action.
Ms Akbar has warned staff members of the ministry that the civil servants’ code of conduct must be upheld and preserved in a manner that promoted the integrity, impartiality and effectiveness of the ministry and maintained public confidence and trust.
She said employees within the ministry found guilty of harassment, victimisation or discrimination, as stipulated by Section 26 (3) of the Constitution, would be terminated.
