TC Yasa: ADF works closely with RFMF in rebuilding efforts

Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel have been working closely with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) in building a temporary structure for students of Galoa Island Primary School in Vanua Levu.

Galoa Island Primary School suffered extensive damage from the Tropical Cyclone Yasa last year.

With the classes to begin in the next two weeks, the joint operation was in a race against time to provide a suitable structure for students to study in when classes begin on January 19, 2021.

While on-site, ADF personnel work within the quarantine bubble under strict surveillance from the Ministry of Health and RFMF.

Australia has deployed over 600 ADF to Fiji to assist to assist in the recovery effort as well as provided $4.5 million worth of relief packages aboard the HMAS Adelaide and two Royal Australian Airforce C-17A Globemaster planes.
