THE defending Skipper Cup U20 champion Nadi produced a strong second-half comeback to secure the win against Fiji Pine Ba U20 in Round 7 of the Skipper Cup competition at Prince Charles Park in Nadi last Saturday.
McDonald’s Nadi U20 head coach Iliesa Tanivula has called for greater discipline from his players after their hard-fought 36-31 victory.
Tanivula was concerned by the two yellow cards shown to his players during the match.
“It was a good fight. It was powerful,” Tanivula said.
Tanivula praised his players for maintaining their composure and continuing to fight until the final whistle against a determined Ba U20’s outfit.
“It was an intense second half. We came back strongly with a couple of tries. It was awesome for me, and I’m happy with the result,” he said.
However, the coach stressed that discipline remained an area the team needed to address as the competition progressed.
“This match against Ba, we faced two yellow cards, which was not good enough. At this level, we’ve got to get better on that,” Tanivula said.
With Nadi sitting second on the points table, the coach said the team would focus on improving its performance and maintaining its position through consistent preparation.
“We’ve got to control the controllable, on the training field and on the field. Learn from our mistakes. When we get better, we’ll be stronger,” he said.
Nadi will host Nadroga at Prince Charles Park this Saturday.
