CONTRACT negotiations between Healthcare Fiji (Pte) Ltd and Government have resulted in some changes to the Concession Agreement (CA), says Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa.
Mr Ravunawa said earlier the two parties had been able to make some changes to the CA which governs the operations of Lautoka and Ba Hospitals by Aspen Medical hired by Healthcare Fiji Pte Ltd.
He said among those changes was the construction of a new maternity and child health wing at Lautoka Hospital.
“There were some parts of the contract that have been agreed upon to amending the contract but not all of it so it is still a work in progress,” he said.
“The ministry is working together with the stakeholders to try and improve the status of the current private public partnership service contract between Aspen Medical and the Ministry of Health. They have agreed to the building of another wing for maternal and child health and also a new incinerator which we have seen has been commissioned.”
He said pharmacy services at Lautoka Hospital had been taken over by the ministry.
“Pharmacy services have been positioned just outside of the Lautoka Aspen Hospital to cater for the outpatient services for patients seen at the Lautoka Hospital.
“Other details are more technical and financial which is the operational part of the contract.
“I do not have the entire nitty gritty of that particular amendment, but it is good to see that there are some works in progress and there is some understanding between the two parties.”
