FRESH Choice Tailevu Rugby Union has little time to celebrate its narrow victory over Naitasiri, with attention already turning to another important round 6 Skipper Cup clash against Rewa this week.
Tailevu secured a 27-25 win over Naitasiri at Nakelo last week, a result that kept the side in third place on the points table.
President Joseph Rodan said the team’s ability to fight until the final stages was again crucial in the victory.
“Our boys played 80 minutes,” Rodan said.
“We were down by a few points, and our team came right in the last minute and scored.”
The result has given Tailevu confidence as it prepares to face Rewa at the same venue.
Rodan said the team had continued to show improvement and was now competing at a higher standard.
He also credited the coaching and management staff for preparing the players to maintain their effort throughout the matches.
“We have been doing this for the last four games. It just goes to show that our coaches and managers are doing the right thing to get the points,” Rodan said.
Tailevu’s third-place position puts further importance on the upcoming match as teams continue to battle for valuable points.
Rodan also urges supporters to play their part when Rewa visits Nakelo this weekend.
Tailevu will be hoping its strong finish against Naitasiri can be repeated when it takes on Rewa on Saturday, September 5 at Nakelo School grounds.
