High school students in the Tailevu area who intend to pursue further studies at the Fiji National University (FNU) from next year got first-hand information of their career choices on Monday this week.

The Career Discovery for High School Students tour facilitated by FNU visited Dawasamu Secondary School, Tailevu North College, Naiyala High School, Wainibuka Secondary School, Queen Victoria School and Saint Vincent College and spoke to students about career pathways, enrolment processes and university programs.

Dawasamu Secondary School head-boy, Josefa Vosaniyalayala, was extremely grateful for the opportunity to speak to the team.

“I am so thankful to the team from FNU for the enlightening session, especially for schools like us in the rural areas. Due to our location, we are often deprived of the chance to get firsthand information from academic institutions like FNU about our tertiary studies,” he said.

“This visit also allowed me and my friends to know that there is always hope at FNU. FNU has programmes that can still ensure that we have a bright future ahead of us.”

Naiyala High School student, Kelera Dawn said she looked forward to joining FNU in the coming year.

Students were also given the opportunity to speak to college representatives and academic staff about subject and entry mark requirements and win attractive giveaways.

The visits will continue in the Central Division until June 30.

This will be followed by the Western Division from July 3-14, and the North from July 17-28, 2023.

Virtual sessions will be conducted for maritime schools over the month of August.
