Tailevu will face a tougher test this week when it takes on Kadavu in round seven of the Skipper Cup competition.
Tailevu Rugby Union president Joe Rodan was pleased with his side’s performance last week, particularly the way the players adapted to difficult weather and ground conditions.
The Tailevu women’s side scored 102 points, which Rodan believes could be a record, while the other teams also secured victories to complete a clean sweep.
Rodan said the results reflected the team’s preparation and ability to perform in different conditions.
“Today I am glad to see that our boys adapted well to the weather,” he said.
“Despite the conditions we have out here in the rain and the sloppy ground, the boys adapted very well and they played according to the weather.”
He also credited the coaches, players and technical staff for their work in preparing the teams.
Rodan said the senior men’s side continued the form it showed the previous week and maintained its strong performance over 80 minutes.
The focus now shifts to Kadavu, with Rodan expecting another challenging encounter.
He said the team would need to maintain its discipline and continue building on last week’s performance as it prepares for the match.
Rodan also thanked supporters who turned up despite the poor weather conditions and urged them to continue backing the team.
He said the support would be important as Tailevu looks to raise funds and maintain its campaign in the competition.
