Tailevu North College under-18 rugby team has secured a place in the national quarter-finals of the Vodafone Deans competition.

The historic feat was achieved with a decisive 22-5 victory over the home favorites, All Saints Secondary School, at Subrail Park in Labasa.

The match yesterday was met with high anticipation as local fans packed the stands, hoping to see their team advance further in the competition.

However, Tailevu North College’s young athletes rose to the occasion, showcasing a blend of skill, strategy, and determination that ultimately outclassed their opponents.

Their treasurer Sailasa Roko said the boys had put in a tremendous effort throughout the season.

“Their dedication and hard work are evident in their performance,” he said.

“This victory is a testament to their perseverance and the support from the entire school community.”

Financial and Logistical Support staff Roko said their duty was not over yet.

“While we celebrate this achievement, our focus must now shift to preparing for the quarter-finals.

“We need to ensure that the team continues to receive the necessary support, both financially and logistically, to maintain their momentum.”

He said they would go back to the drawing board to work in the areas they lack, especially their scrum, before the quarter final.
