Tailevu Naitasiri showcased their strength during the 2025 Extra Beach Soccer League by outplaying Navua with a convincing 6-3 victory at the Fiji Sports Council Beach Soccer Pitch in Laucala Bay, Suva yesterday.
The game proved to be a challenging affair for both teams, with intense pressure in the first half.
However, Tailevu’s performance significantly improved in the second half, ultimately securing the win.
Head coach Shivneel Kumar reflected on the team’s return to the competition, highlighting that most of the players hail from the University of the South Pacific (USP) and have a strong foundation in the sport.
He adds the team’s thorough preparations paid off, leveraging the players’ existing football knowledge to their advantage.
“Preparations were great coming into the competition, most of the boy already have the knowledge of playing football, which was a bonus for us coming into the competition.
“Proud of the boys in getting this win, we started slow in the first half, and we had to work on our defence in the second to get the win.”
Despite facing a formidable Navua side led by national representative Kitione Baleiloa, Tailevu remained focused on their game plan and emerged victorious.
The coach extended thanks to the players for their commitment during training and emphasised on the importance of unity and enjoyment in playing the sport.
Aside from Navua and Tailevu Naitasiri, other participating teams in the competition include Northland Tailevu, Rewa, Nasinu, Suva and Lami.
