SUVA women continued their winning run in the Subrails Marama Cup Championship after a convincing 47-5 victory over Rewa in round 5 at the Suva Grammar School grounds yesterday.
The win was Suva’s second consecutive victory and added to the side’s confidence as it prepares for the next round of the championship.
Captain Elenoa Matanisiga said the team was pleased with its performance but knew there were still areas that needed improvement.
“It was a good performance. I would also like to thank the team for the effort put into the field,” Matanisiga said.
Matanisiga said the team would use the week to work on the small areas identified from the match and its previous games.
She is taking up the captaincy for the third time and said leadership required individual preparation as well as teamwork.
“It all comes down to mentality and preparation individually for me. I would say it’s not easy leading the team, but it requires teamwork for the team to work well together,” she said.
Suva will now look to build on its back-to-back victories and maintain its momentum as the Subrails Marama Cup Championship progresses.
