Suva to host top snooker tournament

THE Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji (BSAF) will host the Fiji International Veterans Championship in Suva at the end of next month.

The tournament has attract players from Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

BSAF president Riffat Bhatti said Krishna Rattan Bhan from Sigatoka was the sponsor for the tournament.

Bhatti said they expected a record number of entries from overseas.

“The interest from overseas is high, especially from Canada where there is regular competition amongst the former Fiji residents,” he said.

“A committee has been set up to organise the tournament. The age categories will be released soon.”

Philip Gock and Suresh Chauhan both of Lautoka have won the tournament which was previously known as the Golden Oldies Championship.

The event will be played at the Merchants Club, Fiji Club and Defence Club.
