The HLB Suva Futsal team successfully defended their title at this year’s Extra Supermarket Futsal Inter-District Championship, emerging victorious with a 6-2 win over Lautoka at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.
Krishneel Singh opened the scoring for Suva, but Aporosa Yada quickly equalised for Lautoka.
Yada then put Lautoka ahead before Aman Naidu’s goal levelled the scores for Suva.
In the second half, Suva dominated, adding four more goals to secure the 6-2 win.
Krishneel Singh was awarded the man of the match, while Nikil Chand received the Golden Boot award for his outstanding performance.
In the women’s category, Rewa claimed the top spot with nine points, followed by Tailevu Naitasiri with six points.
Adilitia Bakaniceva of Rewa was awarded the Golden Boot, and Maria Veronika was named the best player of the tournament.
Fiji FA chief executive, Mohammed Yusuf, expressed his gratitude to all the participating teams for their efforts and congratulated Suva on their impressive victory.
He also extended his appreciation to the major sponsor, Extra Supermarket, for their support throughout the four-day competition.
