Suva Orchid booked their place in the Under-13 Tier One semi-finals of the Crest Fiji Primary Schools Netball tournament after holding off a spirited Cakau Sharks side 11-7 in a tense quarter-final clash at Subrail Park in Labasa today.

The match started evenly, with both teams locked at 2-2 in the early exchanges as neither defence gave much away.

Suva Orchid briefly edged ahead 3-2, but Cakau Sharks responded immediately to level the scores at 3-all, keeping the contest tight.

Suva then nudged in front again, taking a 4-3 lead going into the break after a fast-paced first half.

The second half remained just as competitive, with Cakau drawing level once more at 4-4, refusing to let Suva break away.

However, Suva Orchid lifted their intensity, shooting three unanswered goals to stretch the margin to 7-4.

Cakau pulled one back to close the gap at 7-5, but Suva replied strongly with a goal to extend it to 8-5.

The Sharks continued to fight back, adding another goal to make it 8-6, but Suva maintained control, scoring two quick goals to push ahead 10-6.

Cakau managed another consolation goal at 10-7, before Suva Orchid sealed the match with their final goal to close out an 11-7 victory.
