The Suva Netball Association (SNA) and NewWorld IGA have maintained a strong partnership for over a decade, with NewWorld recently extending their sponsorship to cover the period of 2025.

This long-standing relationship has significantly benefitted SNA, allowing them to elevate their games management and raise the profile of the sport in Fiji.

The recent meeting held by SNA to discuss their plans for 2025 and present their budget underscores the importance of NewWorld’s support.

The sponsorship funds provided by NewWorld go towards logistical costs, equipment, facilities, training programs, and even player development.

This support has enabled SNA to improve overall performance and enhance the quality of netball in the region.

Suva Netball Association secretary Lepani Justice Volahiga said SNA has shown impressive results in recent years.

While there was no National Championship for women in 2024, the Finance Hub League saw Suva emerge as the champions.

She adds Suva dominated the National Championships for Men and Mixed Netball, winning several grades and showcasing the depth of talent within the association.

The success of the national team, comprised entirely of Suva players, further solidifies SNA’s reputation as a powerhouse in netball.

Looking ahead, SNA is gearing up for the Club Season, with the opening Knockout held on May 24 and the first round of Club Games scheduled for June 7.

“SNA continues to grow over the years. This year, we have received a total of 86 teams from 11 Clubs, competing in 9 grades,” said Volahiga.

“That’s one more team than last year. More teams have expressed their interest, and we will confirm that tonight when we finalise the participating teams and the draws.

“SNA wishes to thank NewWorld for their continued support over the years. The partnership, which was tied some 15 years ago is impacting now.

“So, we look forward to more. NewWorld’s financial support goes a long way in terms of impact on the players.

“We also thank the Club management for the hard yards at Club level, the SNA Club leagues can get very competitive, and the credit goes to the Clubs for preparing their teams through training, fundraising and other club related events. “
