SUVA teams reigned supreme at the Fiji Men’s & Mixed Netball Association National Championships held over the weekend in Lautoka.
The winners across all categories were dominated by Suva teams, with the under-19 men’s, U23 men’s, open grade men’s, and open mixed grade all being claimed by teams from Suva.
The only category not won by Suva was the mixed masters, which was won by Nadi. The competition adopted the theme of the PlaySafe campaign, focusing on raising HIV awareness and providing free testing during the event, under the hashtag #PlaySafe FMMNA National.
FMMNA president Myron Williams said about 30 participating teams, with about 500 players and officials involved.
The event showcased the growing popularity of men’s and mixed netball in Fiji, drawing players from various regions such as Tailevu, Nasinu, Suva, Lautoka, Nadi, and Savusavu.
“This year’s competition featured five exciting grades, under-19 men’s, U23, open grade men’s, open mixed grade, and mixed masters 35-plus,” said Willams.
