THE Suva Bowling Club greens is ready to host the annual Raj Charan National Open Singles today and tomorrow.

The national championship is held every year in memory of the late Raj Charan who was a seasoned bowler and a tower of strength behind the Fiji Bowls Association.

Suva Bowling Club secretary Diwan Chand said the tournament would see all the bowlers from across the country coming together to compete and also to remember one of Fiji Bowls’ pioneers.

“The green is set and is in good condition for the two days event. We are expecting a good number of bowlers since this is one of our major tournaments,” said Chand.

“This tournament is a very important one since we use this to select our Fijian representatives to the world Champion vs Champion.

“The winner from this year’s tournament will represent Fiji next in the world Champion vs Champion next year,” said Chand.

Defending champions of the tournament are Surend Prasad and Litia Tikoisuva. Tournament starts today at 8.30am at the Suva Bowling club greens.
