This Easter weekend marks the 60th anniversary of the Kadavulevu sea disaster, one of Fiji’s most tragic maritime tragedies.
To commemorate the historic event, the family of Viliame Qelo, 74 of Wellington, New Zealand will gather in Levuka, Ovalau for a family reunion.
The vessel Kadavulevu capsized and sank in Lomaiviti waters on the night of March 29, 1964 in which 89 men, women and children lost their lives.
There were only three survivors two women in their 40s, Nina Nareba and Seini Wakesa and a 14 -year-old Viliame Qelo, then of Nakula St, Lami.
