Resilience and strength are themes embodied by rural and maritime schools participating in the Vodafone Kaji/Kajiana Rugby Competition, which began in Suva yesterday.

More than 1000 young male and female ruggers are participating in the three-day event and the matches unfolding at the HFC Bank Stadium, Buckhurst Park and Bidesi Park are indicative of how robust the action will be.

Teams from urban centres such as Suva and Lautoka faced stiff competition from their rural and maritime opponents as growing streams of lines formed by spectators, parents and guardians outside the HFC Bank Stadium were seen yesterday.

Meanwhile, fine weather prevailed during the first day which allowed for competition to take place in favourable conditions.

The competition continues today and will end tomorrow.
