Forty-two thousand civil servants have been sent a mandatory questionnaire to fill out as part of plans to reform the civil service.
The questionnaire states a Sub-Committee on Future of Work has been established to assist the Ministry of Civil Service in the development of policies and incentives on workforce and skills retention.
“The role of the sub-committee is to review, analyse and drive the implementation policies, strategies and actions to position the civil service as a model employer and employer of choice,” states the questionnaire.
“Your honest input in this survey will contribute significantly to the sub-committee’s efforts in improving employee satisfaction and gradually enhancing civil service as an employer.”
The questionnaire asks civil servants for their qualifications and their childcare responsibilities as a primary care giver.
“Do you look after or give any help or support to anyone at your home because they have long-term physical or mental health conditions, or illnesses, or problems related to old age,” is a question to be answered by civil servants.
“Does your organisation ensure that you are well-informed about important decisions, policies, changes and updates?
“How satisfied are you with your current role and responsibilities?
“What are some of the challenges you face in your current workplace?”
In the 2024-2025 budget Minister of Finance Prof Biman Prasad had announced a pay rise for civil servants that would total $85million.
