Albinism Day was celebrated with a march in Lami where many gathered to appreciate the albinism community.

With its theme “Celebrate Diversity, Embrace Albinism”, chief guest Professor Margaret Whitfeld reiterated the need to support the albinism community.

Sabina Moce, a person living with albinism, expressed to The Fiji Times during an interview that it is an important day for her.

“It sends a very important message of inclusion as a young person with disability, as a young person with albinism more specifically,” she said.

“I think this day symbolises a lot as it creates opportunities.

“It creates a platform where people with albinism can gather to celebrate their rights.

“It also gives us an opportunity to network, catch up and share what we’ve been through with the challenges, and it creates opportunities that will enhance our life,” she said.
